Hi its the oil level sensor in the sump going south, they are pretty useless but the upside is they are fairly cheap and easy to replace, dont buy the Audi gold plated version as its made by Febi and their aftermarket version is less than half price, the whole sensor is calibrated by a bonnet switch on the slam panel so check the wiring up to that just to be sure but its most likely the electrics which are exposed to boiling oil.

Cheers Steve. I’m gonna try and replace the sensor this weekend. See if it fixes the problem.

Hi if you change it the easiest way is to shut the bonnet after and then take it for a drive for fifteen mins then five mins after park check the level, I guarantee if you open the bonnet before that it will give a low reading, what price a good old dipstick.
