Can anyone recommend where I can get a used driver wing. I want an original with original paint rather than have one sprayed. I can get an A3 wing in perfect condition so I imagine an A4 would be available.

Welcome Peter,

Where have you tried so far - to ensure we don’t tell you to search where you already have?

I tried a few breakers earlier in the year, then someone said they could sort it and here I am again starting over. So far Parts gateway and Nbh Auto parts.

I can not help with a source, but I am curious to know why you want a wing with original paint. Any secondhand wing for a car of that age is bound to have some defects that will have to be treated and painted, so why not go the whole hog and accept any colour?

Well my car when I bought it had the paint treatment from Audi. Over tine, as you say, the colour changes. Whilst my car is pretty much immaculate apart from the wing, I want to keep it as authentic as possible. I did find a wing which was a similar age which was a perfect match except for a scratch that was too deep to mask. So I am hoping to find a similar wing. I did see another but it’s for an A3 which was in perfect condition.

Hello Peter,

Sorry to be pessimistic, but I think you are on extremely short odds to find a wing in the correct colour and free from surface imperfections associated with storage and transport.
What is wrong with your current one, that a reputable body shop can’t correct?
Kind regards,

Gareth.

I did see one, if I don’t find another at least I have looked before having a repair done.

The wing isn’t that bad, however, in my past experience of workshops, I had a Touareg where you could see the filler as it had little holes in it before it was painted. Naturally I refused to pay. Another time the paints were clearly different colours and another time the finish was poor but with spray all over the tyres, lining and engine. So, whilst searching maybe like finding a needle in a haystack, I am prepared to wait a while longer, it’s a popular colour.

Incidentally, I’m not looking for perfect as that’s the point, it’s a well kept 2015 model but it is bound to have surface scratches.

Thanks Peter, your problem is not associated with finding the correct colour code wing in pristine condition, but finding a body shop who doesn’t turn out substandard work.
You don’t tell us the extent of the damage - a photo would be useful.
Possible ways to find better bodyshops:-

Ask at your local smallish car sales sites and take note of who they use. These chaps usually work on lowish margins, and need good work at reasonable prices.
Seek out regional classic car clubs covering your area, and ask for advice there.
Kind regards,

Gareth.

So it's not immaculate as you first claimed. All the more reason to get anything that fits and have it painted to suit. Any half decent body shop should be able to match the paint.

I did say it is pretty much immaculate, but it’s a 2015 model. Let me put it this way, I DONT WANT TO TAKE IT TO A BODY SHOP, I SIMPLY ASKED IF ANYONE COULD HELP WITH LOCATING A WING, IF NOT FEEL FREE NOT TO INVOLVE YOURSELF.

Please do not shout at me Peter - not acceptable behaviour on here.

I and other forum members are trying to realistically advise you.
I think an apology would be in order here.

Many thanks,

Gareth.

Peter. It looks like you have pressed your CapsLock key. Please release it before responding again.

Unless I've missed it, what colour wing are you looking for?

Also I dont think A3 wings fit the A4 unfortunately.

You are correct, A3 won’t fit A4. It illustrates the point that wings in general are available contrary to sone opinions.

Cliffcoggin. I asked if anyone had any advice on where I might locate a wing. I am fully aware alternative arrangements can be made, but I didn’t ask that. So, no I won’t apologise and I will use my caps any way I choose thank you. That’s just the way I tend to respond to inquisitions. Feel free to take any action you deem appropriate, detention maybe?

Thank you Peter,

’So no I won’t apologise and I will use my caps any way I choose thank you’.
That’s fine by me, with any dialogue you might select to embark on on anything apart from the Audi Forum.
Your choice of how you behave is not down to you on here, it is directed at by the Forum, and unfortunately for you Peter, you cannot enjoy your free will on here.
Since you don’t intend to adhere to the normal behaviour we require on here, I am now going to ban you from any future involvement here - indefinitely.
Good luck with your future dealings.
Thank you.

Gareth.
