Mechatronic Removal

Im hoping to find a sympathetic friend here - as my car has been struck by mechatronic issues. 
 

I was getting frequent gearbox temperature warnings, so took it to a local gearbox specialist who replaced the clutch. Car now drives fantastically - except in 400 odd miles I’ve had 4 more temperature warnings. 3 of these were when my wife was driving, but I was able to recreate the error myself when driving in a ‘spirited’ fashion on country lanes, and specifically trying to get heat into the gearbox. No other signs of failure/issue - but when you run through the diagnostics I get: 

P17D800 torque limitation due to clutch temperature

 

So I’ve clearly got an issue here, and have been told it’s the temperature sensor built into the mechatronic system (= big bill!). However given the way the car drives now it seems silly not to try and repair before I’m faced with a proper (and potentially terminal) repair. It’s a great car and unfortunately I love it. 
 

I’ve been speaking to ECUtesting.com, who have seen this issue and successfully solved it before - if I can get the S-tronic bit of the mechatronic system to them they are happy to give the rebuild a go, and I’d like to try and solve the problem before I’ve truely fried the gearbox, which I’m sure is just a matter of time. 
 

so my questions are:

1) has anyone else had a similar issue and been able to solve it?

2) does anyone know of a garage/mechanic who would be willing to take the mechatronic system off the car?  I’m unfortunately blessed with the ability to break things just by looking at them, so this is beyond my DIY skills. Ideally I need help getting the part ready for ECUtesting to try and work their magic.

Definitely worth getting the ECU testing place to have a go fixing it. Surely the gearbox specialist you've previously used could remove the megatronic unit?

I'm surprised at how difficult it is to find someone to help with this - is it because the job of taking the bit of kit off the car is hard? Is it because they don't want responsibility - or is it a classic case of 'not-invented-here' syndrome?

Whom have you asked to take on the job? Forget about official Audi dealers, go for an independant VAG garage or a gearbox specialist.

Don't get me started. I know how hard it is to find people to work on audis.
