Hos Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Hello 馃憢馃徎聽 I have an issue that happens at random. There鈥檚 a static popping/thud sound from the sub and speakers. Anything can trigger this, such as operating a window or the lights coming on, and even steering the wheel. Sometimes it can be a little crack, and others it鈥檚 a big thud from the sub.聽 this has only started when a new stereo was installed. I鈥檝e disconnected any wires that aren鈥檛 relevant for operation. A simple yet expensive option is to change the unit, but I want to avoid that and see if anyone has experienced this before, and maybe solved it.聽 聽 thanks!
cliffcoggin Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Have you checked for the most obvious cause: a loose wire or connection shorting out?
Hos Posted November 8 Author Posted November 8 One of the first things, yeah. But nothing happened when I moved things about.聽
Hos Posted November 9 Author Posted November 9 No I don鈥檛 think so. I just connected the iso lead. And fed a live wire from the fuse box.聽 how would I be able to identify an earth problem? Could be a good place to start.聽
cliffcoggin Posted November 9 Posted November 9 The extent of my electrical testing knowledge is to wriggle all the connections. Beyond that I can not help. Perhaps one of the wires you discarded as irrelevent is actually relevent after all.
Hos Posted November 9 Author Posted November 9 It鈥檚 certainly worth another try. Could just be a problem with the stereo itself. Thanks for your help.聽
