Hi Guys,

Great forum. just joined.

Bought a 2007 Q7 6 months ago.

1st 4X4, 1st Audi, 1st Turbo diesel....and I'm loving it.

I am told that I need to replace my battery as its coming to the end of its life.

Audi garage near have charged me £400 all in

I mean they are nice enough guys in Audi, but In the 1st 3 months I donated £900 to replace and fit my electronic center console (someone spilled some coffee on it) £56 for wiper blades and the best so far £600 to investigate and fix a blown out brake light (it turns out current was not getting to the light and they had to strip the doors to trace the problem..blah blah blah)

So

Question 1 - Isn’t this just a straightforward battery swap?

Question 2 - Are Halfords qualified and able to do this?

Question 3 - Does anyone know a good independent Q7 specialist in the Kent area (10 mile radius of Bromley) who I can use as my Q7 Doctor & plastic surgeon

Look forward to your replies

Thanks

Hi and Welcome to the forum.

I personally would fit the battery myself if it was my car but for what halfords charge its got to be cheaper than the main stealer.

Alternatively a lot of tyre and exhaust places swap batteries. I believe the RAC and AA also do the same.

One thing i would be looking it is the guarantee you get with the battery.

Actually, scrap what I wrote above. Read somewhere that the Q7 charging system is calibrated to the battery size and when replacing the battery it has to be diagnostically checked after fitting the new one to ensure correct operation due to the regenerative braking function.
