Sockets in front not working

Hi All,

I just got a A6 C7 saloon, the cigarette lighter and socket in the front don't work, but the socket in the boot works. Would this be related to the C7 fuse or would they all not work if it was this fuse?

Also the fuel flap lock doesn't work would this be related to the above or do i need to replace it?

Thanks for any help,

Sinead

Welcome Sinead,

It could be expected that they would all be on the same fuse, but….. Sorry not sure.
Are you handy with a multimeter? If not, you would be well advised to engage an hour’s labour with a trusted auto electrician.
Re fuel flap. Does lock, or doesn’t open?
Kind regards,

Gareth.

I would be surprised if so many circuits were protected by the same fuse, especially circuits with such disparate functions, though  I don't know this for a fact.

Years ago there would be less than a dozen fuses in total on a car. Nowadays the general principle is one fuse per function leading to 30 or more fuses in two or three fuseboxes. A far more sensible arrangement.

Thanks for the advise guys, I've got the sockets fixed 🙂

I was originally looking at the below fuse diagram, which directed me to the C7 fuse in the boot, but this wasn't correct for my car.

https://fuse-box.info/audi/audi-a6-c7-4g-2012-2018-fuses

the correct fuse diagram is below that shows 2 fuse for the sockets (B3&4 in the boot), which explains why the socket in the back was working when the others weren't

I also located the fuse for the fuel flap lock (A8 in the boot) and its fine so I assume I need a new motor.

thanks again for the advise.

Hello Sinead,

The non opening fuel flap will be due to a sticking solenoid which activates the lock/unlock on the flap - access via the boot side panel.
Perhaps WD will sort it, but fitting a new one would be your best bet.
Please let us know how you get on.
Kind regards,

Gareth.
