griff88 Posted November 15 Posted November 15 Was after some help. Recently bought A6 C7 2.0tdi Car has developed excessive knocking on the NSF the shock and spring have recently been replaced (prior to purchase) The knocking is only at low speed over rough roads and cornering right (roundabouts) I have replaced NSF drop link but to no avail bushes look ok banana arm bush looks slightly cracked but no evident play. The knocking it's self is quite excessive feels like front end is about to drop off and you can sometimes feel it too. Anyone else had something similar?
Steve Q Posted November 15 Posted November 15 If you've bought this from a dealer within the last 30 days then they should be fixing this free of charge as you have the right to reject a car within 30 days of purchase. 1
griff88 Posted November 15 Author Posted November 15 Unfortunately no I didn't I was offered Warranty which I did take however because it was higher mileage it was only bare minimum (the components that never break) I heard warranty and should have read we live and learn lol the dealer was also 3 hours away so reluctant to take it back for a component that may not be covered
cliffcoggin Posted November 15 Posted November 15 It sounds like one of the constant velocity joints is worn out, which is a MOT failure. The dealer is obliged by law to sell only roadworthy vehicles, and to repair or replace within a month of purchase any such faulty vehicle, no matter what worthless warranty (and they are all worthless,) you have purchased. Take it back.
griff88 Posted November 15 Author Posted November 15 Cheers looks like I'm taking it back then lol. I'm not sure it is CV joint definitely suspension orientated as it's more a clunk on up and down movements as opposed to a rotational movement. Taking it to one of the warranty companies authorised repairers tomorrow for a free checkup on suspension and steering. I'll push the warranty after if they find something I've missed. I did have a thought that the shock top is loose after new shock was fitted. So maybe I should take it back to that garage as was only done in June
griff88 Posted Saturday at 12:39 PM Author Posted Saturday at 12:39 PM So took for a free suspension check up. Technician said they are a nightmare to find faults with because you don't get any play really. Up on the ramp he said it was all 4 top arms one bush completely failed on nearside. Booked in for replacement hopefully under warranty will keep posted if rectified!
cliffcoggin Posted Saturday at 01:32 PM Posted Saturday at 01:32 PM Tom. You have not yet confirmed if it was purchased from a dealer or an individual, and when. Please let us know because it affects your legal rights.
griff88 Posted Saturday at 01:35 PM Author Posted Saturday at 01:35 PM Sorry bud, yea it was purchased from a roadside individual seller. Tbh I got suckered in with the low price for the mileage and the 6 months warranty. Suspension components are covered in the documentation as long as it's not worded as worn but failed
cliffcoggin Posted Saturday at 03:29 PM Posted Saturday at 03:29 PM Good luck with your claim Tom. You'll need it.
