tim01 Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Could anyone please help, parked up last night all was well, this morning started car reversed out then all warning lights came on , car drives but went to turn off and it kept running for a few seconds, then went to start it and it wouldn't start but when I released the key it kept turning over until I turned key completely off and removed from ignition, then it started fine next time but all warning lights are on . Anyone point me in the right direction of where to start looking please.
Magnet Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Welcome Tim. First thing to eliminate is the battery. Suggest getting its efficiency check - Halfords stores will do that. If it tests substandard then please refer back to us before committing to buy - if you have any respect for your wallet. Kind regards, Gareth.
tim01 Posted November 16, 2024 Author Posted November 16, 2024 Thank you, I done this today and its fine, I tried scanning it but it gives no codes at all, in the display it firstly says TPMS then says brakes faulty which I have checked as best I can, brakes work well, I should have said its automatic transmission, if that makes a difference,
Magnet Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 What were the actual % efficiency and CCA value on Halford’s test Tim?
Solution tim01 Posted November 17, 2024 Author Solution Posted November 17, 2024 They didn't tell me just said it was as good as a new one.
Magnet Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 Strange, owners normally ask for/ are given a print out of the results. Make and age of battery as a matter of interest? If the battery is genuinely up to specification, then it’s possible the the instrument cluster is at fault. Kind regards, Gareth. 1
tim01 Posted November 18, 2024 Author Posted November 18, 2024 They didn't tell me just said it was as good as a new one. The battery make is premium dated feb24
cliffcoggin Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 Was that new battery coded to the car? It's essential to do so to avoid spurious electronic faults such as false warning lights.
tim01 Posted January 3 Author Posted January 3 Problem turned out to be abs unit failed so not receiving codes from other units although brakes worked fine and car drove ok it put all dash lights on , had my unit repaired

I have similar, though not udentical issue on my S3. Andy
tim01 Posted January 9 Author Posted January 9 Local auto electrical company scanned it and found a lot of codes were read but some could not be read and when he checked all the codes it couldn't read were linked to the abs unit , it went off for repair and it's been fine since
cliffcoggin Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Please tell us the name of the company that repaired the ABS module.
tim01 Posted January 10 Author Posted January 10 I am afraid I don't have that information as it was sent off by the auto electrician that done my car
cliffcoggin Posted January 10 Posted January 10 That's a pity. The information would have been useful to others with a similar problem.
