Hi I have had an issue with my rear wiper on my Audi Q3 18 plate I suspected the motor at fault as it kept sticking at a certain point and had to keep wiggling the arm to get it moving again. I decided to check it and strip it down as I found out there had for water ingress of the washers, it was full of gunk so cleaned it out best I could and also the worm gear. I refitted it only for it not to work this time, I checked the fuse under the drivers side & in the manual it says rear wiper motor fuse 26 15 amp, the fuse was ok so decided to buy a motor of eBay. Replaced the motor and still the same not working 🤦🏻‍♂️ fuse is ok still. Does anyone have any ideas what else it could be ? It seems to be after I stripped it apart the original one.

Hi check the wiring for the plug that goes to the motor sometimes the earth wire rots out underneath the insulation, worth introducing a false earth by cutting the insulation back on the earth wire then wrap a new piece of wire around the exposed area and earth it to a bolt on the body, check the plug for corrosion first.

Hi mate thanks for reply yes that’s the next steps check the plug etc and if it is getting power then that’s 2 wiper motors knackered 😳. As I said the original was working until I stripped it down then plugged it back in and it wasn’t working. But it is possible this one of eBay could be faulty as well.

Thanks Graeme,

Possibly a daft question to which I don’t know the answer:-

Do these motors need coding to the car?
Kind regards,

Gareth.

Hi no I don’t think so as I said I stripped the orginal down and then it stopped working so don’t know what I have done tbh. I plugged it in after I had cleaned it out to check it and got nothing, couldn’t hear it working I have then ordered new one from eBay and still the same and the fuse is ok. I can’t really think of anything else 🤔

Thanks Graeme,

Don’t ignore the possibility of was working/isn’t working being due to a partially fractured wire within the flexible harness section twixt body and tailgate. Well worth an elimination check.
Kind regards,

Gareth.
