Sven888 Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 Hi everyone first post for a new member. Anyone know how to overcome a fuel flap that won't open on my A6 Avant ? I have had this happen twice, first time was 5-6 months ago and I found the fix in the owners manual. The flap has got stuck again and the plastic manual pull has snapped and I am up the proverbial creek. Any help gratefully appreciated. Simon

Steve Q Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 I appreciate this is for an A4 but similar principles apply: And this one is for an A6 c8 but again similar principles

Magnet Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 Thank you Simon, We don’t like doing this, but it has not been uncommon of late that posters either don’t react to suggestions made, or simply just don’t return - a bit like asking a question and walking away! We do try to prompt members in this situation, but again seldom get a response until the warning is issued - then we seldom don’t get a reaction! Has what you have read been of any help to you? Kind regards, Gareth.

John.Wadsworth Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Hi, I've had the same problem with my A4 over a period of 6 months, sometimes it worked sometimes it did not. I've had to force it open twice lately, took it to a local VAG expert who diagnosed faulty acuiator and repaired it 3 days later £130.
John.Wadsworth Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Hi, Further to my earlier post, the VAG garage that did the repair was not a main dealer but 2 guys who were mechanics at a local VAG dealership that closed down a number of years ago.

That's probably why the cost was so reasonable. I doubt a main dealer would have been so cheap.
John.Wadsworth Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Hi, i agree totally with you, I have no faith whatsoever in main dealers. Last summer I had an issue with an engine sensor which indicated that it may cause brake servo issues. So I asked the main dealer for some advice, which was "we will need to carry out a computer download to confirm the fault which is £140 before any work is done and cannot do anything for 4weeks it's summer holidays" . I then asked whether the car could be driven and his response was "I cannot possibly tell you that" So I looked on Utube, the fault seemed fairly common and fairly simple to fix, however I erred on the side of caution and found a local mechanic who had recently retired who came to my house replaced the sensor in 10 minutes, provided me with an invoice from the part supplier and all for £120. Problem fixed. That is why I have no intention of using the main dealer ever again particularly since I now found the guys who repaired the fuel flap actuator.
