Gary Cox Posted November 28 Posted November 28 Hi all, I'm new on here, and was wondering if anyone has heard if there has been any issues with the steel used on the rear sub frame on the Q5 (2012), only i was told Mercedes have had a problem and audi have used the same steel. My Q5 has a crack in the sub frame, so just checking before I go through the cost of getting it fixed.
Steve Q Posted November 28 Posted November 28 We've seen lately older Audi's (2002 models roughly) with rotten front subframes. Not seen any q5s on here yet though so yours is the first. You might be better getting a second hand one.
Magnet Posted November 28 Posted November 28 Hello Gary, When you say ‘getting it fixed’ you don’t mean weld repairing do you? As I understand it, it is not MOT permissible to weld subframes, so well worth have a definitive opinion from your MOT station if you were thinking of that route. Kind regards, Gareth.
