Hi so far this week we have had Labour back tracking on the emissions target again due to Vauxhall and Nissan threatening to pull the plug on U.K. operations if the government dont ease up on the punitive fines if they dont meet their sales targets on new electric vehicles, how do you sell something that not many people want, then you have the European problems, VAG have thousands of brand new vehicles that have been parked up for a year or over both electric and fossil fuel, the problem there is most average Europeans can't afford to buy them as the prices have rocketed and the quality of build is no where near what it was, we know all about that, meanwhile the Chinese are flooding the market with cheap EVs but even they are not selling by the bucket load, to add to the woes of VAG Donald Trump is talking about higher tariffs on European cars,Jaguar are going to cut their dealerships by 75% and only sell all electric cars in wealthy areas, Porsche have stated that they will carry on with petrol car development and sales until someone forces them to stop, does anyone else sense Rebellion in the air, if Nissan decide to pull out the queues at the DWP offices will be outrageous in Sunderland, more waste of skilled labour with not enough supermarket jobs to go round, low wages and high prices create poverty and crime and at the end of the day recession.

Yes Steve,

All what you say is not only possible but highly probable.

Just maybe, part of the problem is the old, ‘divide and conquer’ ruling. Why is it we (the UK) are so wrapped up in regionalising (dividing) of our opinions that we are missing the bigger picture. All for one, one for all. If, for example you ask just two people for an opinion there is big chance they are going to disagree. Therefore, if you ask 60 million people the same question that equation would not even be 50/50.

Personally, I feel that the downfall of our country, as a whole, is that it is not a whole. Rather, it is too regionalised, even down to the north/south divide on matters such as the weather……..I mean, come on, how is that someone born in the south of our country is somehow inferior to someone born in the north of our country. It is, after all, our country, all of ours north, south, east, & west. I think some people especially throughout the EU call it the island mentality. There was no disparity when we, our country, fought to defend itself during the 1st & 2nd world wars. I don’t expect we had those conversations in the trenches that measured a mans worth depending on where he was born or what was the weather was at home where he came from. Get over yourselves!!

And do you know why?

WE HAVE NO LEADERS> Whatever your political persuasion. There is no-one to lead us. Which is why we will always be weak when there are so many political parties wanting a slice of our cake. There will never be any cohesion when we are constantly divided.

Interesting Terry.
Just can’t concur with the  ‘someone born in the south of our country is inferior to someone born in the north’. In my book, it’s always been seen as the opposite!

Nice one Gareth,

its all about perspective I’d say.

I’m pleased I’ve got a response.

Thanks.

Well said Terry we have no leaders, well none you can believe in, I mean the new lot are too busy robbing older people of their pensions whilst organising the rest of the country's demise.

Well said Steve, cars are far too expensive now and people don't want to spend their money on something they fear the government will outlaw (diesel).

People are keeping cars longer. And I believe the only way we will be able to have diesel and petrol cars in the future are classics which aren't so dependent on computers and can be fixed easier and parts availability is plentiful. Such as Land rover defenders, mercedes w123, mercedes w124 etc.

For my next daily I'm genuinely considering a tax exempt vehicle like a land rover 110 I can modernise with later defender bits such as heated seats, windscreen etc, galvanized chassis etc. That way I can run a tax exempt vehicle but has some mod cons to keep the wife happy. You can still get bits for mercedes w123 from main dealers despite them going out of production in 1985.

Let's also not forget, the European manufacturers and governments are scared on Chinese electric cars as they are cheaper and potentially better quality. This is why the Chinese are getting fines I believe when they try to sell them in Europe.

As well as the problem of not having the infrastructure for everyone to have an electric car.

But either way I believe long term government plans are to have us all out of cars.

The maniacs are definitely running things and I fear we're heading towards regimes similar to that seen during WW2 in Germany, Italy or later in the USSR.
