Marcusgorst Posted December 2 Posted December 2 Hi everyone My oil level was high, but pressure was low. And a strange repeating tink noise on the left near the DPF I replaced oil to the correct level (to the middle point on the dip stick which used 3.1 L instead of the book 3.9 L) and the oil pressure switch! but its still showing low pressure and the tink noise continued. I'm assuming its to do with the regen cycle for the DPF. how does the dPF regen cycle initiate? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Magnet Posted December 2 Posted December 2 Welcome Marcus, How high was high - on a dip stick, if fitted on yours? When was the oil previously changed? Have you considered changing the oil pressure sensor? Kind regards, Gareth. 1
Marcusgorst Posted December 3 Author Posted December 3 (edited) Hello. There was a min and a max and then two balls above the max. It was above both of them balls. Oil was changed only 5 months ago on the service. Yes I changed the pressure switch yesterday. Thanks Marcus Edited December 3 by Marcusgorst
Magnet Posted December 3 Posted December 3 Thanks Marcus, So when you found it was overfilled, that was found by you physically checking the dipstick some 5 months after the car had an oil change service. In effect, it was likely to have been overfilled at that service point, rather than suffering from oil dilution during the last 5 months. Likely - is the operative word, since it’s now not possible to confirm that. For future reference, always check the oil level before start up on the morning after the service was done, to ascertain where the level sits. Re. Replaced oil pressure switch? :- can you please update us on whether that has solved your problem. Kind regards, Gareth. 2
