Hi everyone,

Iain here, new member and current owner of 2 Audi cars. An A3 convertible 1.8tfsi (09) and an A4 allroad 2.0tdi (09).聽
I鈥檓 in need of a new gearbox on the Allroad and my build code is LMA. My question; is there any real difference between my gearbox and say an LLR one or similar (far more of them and cheaper too) or would I need an exact replacement.聽
Any help greatly appreciated聽

thanks in advance folks 馃槉

Welcome to the forum you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch 馃檪

Not sure if it'll work. If it can it'll need coding to the car聽

Thanks for the quick response Steve. Much appreciated. I guess what I really want to know is just whether or not another gearbox would actually physically fit or am I just better off to keeping searching for the specific LMA coded box! (I鈥檝e actually just found one in Germany but it鈥檚 3x the price of others here!)

I get where your coming from as I've got the same issue but with my engine. Been a nightmare.聽

As long as it's the same gearbox type so not based off code if that makes sense (like the same engine has different engine codes) it will physically fit. But it's the coding and the module that might be the problem you choose a different gearbox code.聽

Plus let's not forget gear rations could be slightly different.聽

I can appreciate it's 3x the price, but if you fit a gearbox that's a different code and then the gearbox module needs recoding or replacing, it it doesn't work then it's just wasted money if you see what I mean.聽
