Easilyconfused Posted December 6 Posted December 6 Hi, hope someone can give me some advise. My daughters A1 ran low on coolant some time ago. Since then the cabin heater has failed to produce any heat. The pipes to the heater on the engine bulkhead do not appear to getting warm. I have just replaced the 85 degree thermostat and the problem remains. I feel there may be an airlock issue. I can find no information on bleeding the coolant system. Any advise would be much appreciated.
Magnet Posted December 6 Posted December 6 Welcome Keith, and thanks for joining. Possibly/ probably a blocked heater matrix, but please do a search the forum in general, and you should find out much more. The reason the coolant level ran low sometime ago?? Does it still lose coolant, and if so how much - over x miles? Kind regards, Gareth.
cliffcoggin Posted December 6 Posted December 6 If the heater was working prior to losing coolant there is a fair chance that the system is now airlocked. Try applying suction to the reservoir to make the air expand and find its way up. Of course that will be a waste of time unless the cause of the coolant loss is rectified first. Was there a high temperature warning or any other symptoms of overheating?
