Hi everyone, I have a 2000 Audi A3 8L with a remote control issue. I visited an electrician yesterday who tried to program the key to the car. He mentioned that the key is fine, but the receiver seems to be the problem. How can I confirm if that's the case?

The car already had some kind of aftermarket alarm system installed before I got it, so it’s possible the central locking receiver was tampered with during that installation. Any advice or steps to troubleshoot this would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Ivo

Okay dokay ...

I found that the vacuum pump in the car, with part number 8L0 862 257 L, does not have an RF receiver. This model originally comes without remote control. Is that correct?

If so, I'll look for a second-hand pump that is compatible with the receiver and antenna.

Worth Looking for a second hand one on eBay and include international sellers.

The aftermarket alarm could present you problems down the line. Especially as your car should have come standard with an alarm.

Thank you for the answer! I'll check eBay as well.

Do you have an idea which pumps come with the RF receivers? I believe the ones that end in "G" have them.

Best Regards,

Ivo
