Hi all,

Picked up a 71 reg A4 black edition yesterday, all good apart from the sat nav is stuck on the 'initiallising' screen.

Is this something which has to be paid for through a subscription with Audi or does it just need an update?

Thanks in advance!

Definitely get it back to Motorpoint to fix. You could try the mmi reset first to see if that fixes it.

Thanks both for the replies, much appreciated.

Spoke to Motorpoint and they said I need to speak to Audi, they didn't list it with Sat Nav (i didn't check if nav worked - just drove the car and was happy with it) so my fault there!

Annoyed as it never even crossed my mind that sat nav wouldn't be included in a 71 reg A4.....you live and learn I suppose!

Called Audi and they said we can help......you just need to subscribe to the Audi connect service for it to work!!

Tried MMI reset and still no luck 😕

Not a major issue as Android Auto works, just grates on me that I've bought a decent car but basic things like the inbuilt sat nav aren't working

Audi said £160/yr 😪 takes the pi$$ that basic functions like sat nav are stuck behind a pay wall.

On the plus side loving driving the car - changed from a Ford Ranger so a bit different but well happy so far.

Looks like it's Android Auto from here on 🤣

I have a 2021 plate B9.5.

Sat nav works without subscription, the sub gives you things and live traffic and Google places search (as used in Google Mas_.
I like the Audi nav in the virtual cockpit (and in the HUD). We then put Waze on the middle unit for accident/police/camera warnings.

1 - First reboot the MMI.
Then we start the longer fault finding.
2 - To help, post the version of your MMI software and the version of your current maps database.

Hi

I ended up purchasing the subscription but even though the license is showing on the MMI I just get a failure message that Audi Connect Service Installation failed.

How do I access the info regarding MMI software & maps database versions?

Thanks

Hi,

found the area in the MMI for software versions, detailed below;

Software version - 3390

MMI software version -release-33.11.2-MLB-AS-2025-SNAPSHOT-15.06.2020-16:35:05

Media driver - CL33_MIB3H_AU_ER_G4x_2102110PROD-1

Gracenote database - Region=EUROPE - Version=6

I'm in the process of looking for a new to me car so when it says sat nav in the used car advert, does that mean it will work without a subscription because if it doesn't it's a bit pointless having it.

I registered my S3 on the My Audi app and map udates are on there free to download.

Andy, That's reassuring. Mike.👍

So that is new enough to work, though there is a newer version still 3620 which should work with your car, so you could try and convince the garage to update you to that.

If you have the subscription, that means that the Audi digital team will be keen to support you, so you do not request a refund.

Has the map updated to recent one? Mine is now on  Jan 2025, but even a late 2024 would show you it is updating and your subscription working.

BTW, have you done a basic reboot?
use a two fingers tap on the very top right of the screen to access the engineering menu. For there reboot the MMI.

Yeah, have rebooted the MMI and still no luck.

Going try and maps update today to see if that resolves the issue.

If all else fails it's in at the local Audi dealership on 27th so hopefully it's sorted one way or another soon!
