Hi, friends. I have a problem with my Audi A4 B5 1.6 Avant. When I get into the car, before starting it, two lights come on: the EPC light and the car with a key icon. When I start driving, everything seems fine, but after an unpredictable amount of time, the car can stall on its own. When I try to restart it, the EPC light doesn’t come on, and I have to wait for a while before I can start it again. This happens every time, even if I turn the car off myself—for example, when I go to a store and come back, I have to wait until the EPC light comes on again.

I’ve replaced the relay responsible for the fuel pump because it was burnt out, and I also replaced the crankshaft sensor. But nothing has helped, and I can’t find anything useful online. That’s why I’m reaching out to you—maybe someone has experienced something similar.

I'd recommend a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up. As well as getting the battery checked depending how old it is.

How strange. Thinking about it, the key icon could be suggesting an issue with the imobiliser, key signal receiver etc.
