paul allman Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago I have recently had above message on the dash for 6 consecutive days. I know it's been cold and we've had a recent bought of snow coupled with that I do a lot of short journeys so I thinking it's maybe the battery? But I had the same issue in October / November and my car went into limp mode. Called Audi assist and many faults were found on the diagnostic and was advised to take it to Dealer( under warranty) 2019 model. They had the car for 3 days and they could not find a fault even after doing over 100 mile test drive, Audi Assist now AA had deleted the fault codes according to the dealer. .Now the start System fault message has reappeared I actually charged my battery for 1 hour and it was fully charged, message has now gone so is it a weak battery?? Back in Oct/nov.it was also showing pre sense messages on a daily basis...+ Drive system fault. Any thoughts guys..
cliffcoggin Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago If you are still on the original battery there is a fair chance that it is dying and needs to be renewed. I suggest you get it professionally tested because a simple voltmeter reading is not sufficient to tell you its state of health.
paul allman Posted 22 hours ago Author Posted 22 hours ago Thank you for the reply Cliff, I was thinking the same thing as I'm just going around in circles with the dealer but I would have hoped they would have done a test on the battery as they supposed to be quality technicians who know best to fix your Audi. Thanks again..

The reality is that they plugged the car into a computer and computer said no. End of investigation. Take the car to an auto electrician or an independant VAG specialist for testing. If a new battery is needed ensure he codes it to the car. 1
paul allman Posted 19 hours ago Author Posted 19 hours ago Thank you for the reply, yes definitely amusing. Yes it is the original battery but also there is a ticking sound when engine is idling so I wonder if there's a fault either with the starter motor or solenoid. Going to get Audi assist out tomorrow and let them test the battery and check starter motor as I have an All in warranty. Hence I can't get a diagnostic check at Audi for 5 to six weeks...great service.. Regards Paul
