I am thinking of buying an Audi Q5 but the recent mot has a list of major defects would you say this list is something to be concerned about

  • Engine MIL inoperative or indicates a malfunction (8.2.1.2 (h))
  • Anti-lock braking system warning lamp indicates an ABS fault (1.6 (b))
  • Electronic braking system warning device indicates a fault brake warning lamp on display (1.7 (b))
  • Electronic stability control warning lamp indicates a fault (7.12 (e))
  • Supplementary restraint system warning lamp indicates a fault (7.1.6 (a))

Yes, I'd avoid it! You have to ask why the current owner is selling it, maybe it's not cheap to fix.

Has it been in a crash?

Thanks for the reply, the car is actually been sold by a garage where I live, they have obviously got it in as a trade in.  I think that is my worry that with all these issues on the last mot that I can potentially be the start of more issues with the car, as far as I know it hasn’t been in a crash and also the garage haven’t as of yet put a new mot on the car

In that case it would be wise to wait until the garage have issued a new MOT certificate, and then re-assess the car.

A scan with VCDS will reveal what it is. Could just be a wheel speed sensor - this tends to throw up various errors.
