Afternoon

Fairly new member and posted only once. Did reply with thanks to those who answered.

My car has developed major electrical faults and I am looking for direction to any second hand suppliers anyone has used or is aware of who might be able to supply a set including:

Body control module

Convenience module

Instrument cluster

Electronic Control Unit (ECU)

Whilst there are sets on eBay they are not complete and as an example have managed to source a set with the first 3 items with the correct codes for my car but can't get an ECU to match. (see attachment)

Confused - so am I but put simply seek all 4 with compatible matching codes.

Know anyone who can help?

Thanks in anticipation.

Stephen.

I have moved this topic to an A4 forum as it does not belong in introductions.

I can't answer your questions, but I do ask what makes you think you need all those modules. Are you certain they are all defective?

Thanks for moving the request and I understand the site lay out better now. To answer your question I have a trustworthy auto electrician friend who has examined the car and it needs all of these modules to get it going again. Stephen.

I find it hard to believe all those modules failed simultaneously, so what were the circumstances of the failures and what were the symptoms? Did your electrical friend do the diagnosis on OBD11 or similar equipment?

Thanks for your interest.

The answer is yes all possible has been done in terms of analytics. No point going into the circumstances on this site.

The diagnosis is from 2 separate sources who I trust and have the appropriate equipment and software.

Would have done anything to avoid having to do this but its unavoidable.

Have a search placed on various sites for these parts so if the right numbers come up will be notified.

Simply looking to see if any members have any alternative sources for the parts I need.

Hi op, whats the issues you are having, because my car is dead ? had lots of faults issues , then it died, see my post on A5 FORUM. Was guided along the lines of BMC2 MODULE could be faulty , sent it off to Pelican diagnostics, who has returned it ,saying cant see any issues with it.

Hi Wayne thanks for reply.

For perspective and only reason I not scrapping this car - only 1 owner since new who has been friend of mine for 30 years. Meticulous guy all service history for 19 years. Top spec and he paid £33k for it in 2005 when Audi flew him down London, put him up in hotel gratis to pick it up brand new. Only 61k miles now (19 years) and immaculate condition bodywork and internal. Rear seats not even sat in, original alloys, Nappa leather seats etc, etc.

Failed MOT with him and his mechanic indicated £3k work needed. He decided to scrap it. I bought it for the scrap price as trust my mechanic who had upfront examined the car then fixed to MOT standard for another £1k. Flew through Mot. That was October 24.

I then had to go abroad for work 3 weeks. left it with someone to turn it over/use it during very cold period up here early Nov. Came back and they hadn't. Battery flat (2014 battery anyway) and fast charged it in car. Started but immobiliser kicked in immediately. Wouldn't go off, key stopped communicating electronically with car. Got new battery - same problem. We considered Immo off program and undertook significant electrical analysis - car showed multiple underlying electrical faults probably all triggered by fast charge and new battery. Defo unknown to previous owner.

Note: Please all, no post mortems or "you should haves". It has occurred and new parts as described only solution.

My electrical mechanic guy/pal is considered the Gandalf of the trade up here. All qualifications experience software and hardware.

We simply seek matching parts as described and he says he can re programme it. Have found one set today which are almost exact and from same year and model of Audi. These sets have to be exact and only come up now and again, often over months waiting.

Trying this set from today once arrives weekend. This is not a major cost exercise, mainly as scrap parts not hugely expensive and Electrician is pal, but needs expertise. Worth trying for this specific car. Will update outcome. Fingers crossed.

Stephen.
