Shann12345 Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Hello all I’m new to the forum. I’m having a problem with my 2010 Audi a3 2.0tdi manual transmission CFFB engine, when starting the car first in the morning the car will start fine then idle down and start misfiring and smoking, if I hold the revs at 1500 rpm it runs fine but still smokes until the engine gets warm and when warm does not smoke or misfire. I was lead to believe this might be an issue with my injectors soo I brought a leak back test and did the test today and have added a picture of my results. Just want an opinion on the results. Any help is appreciated Thanks.
Shann12345 Posted Sunday at 10:48 AM Author Posted Sunday at 10:48 AM Hey Steve, I did the test myself, brought the kit from eBay.
cliffcoggin Posted Sunday at 11:55 AM Posted Sunday at 11:55 AM Doesn't the test kit tell you how to interpret the results? All I see is a picture of four graduated bottles containing a liquid I presume is diesel fuel.
Shann12345 Posted Tuesday at 08:08 AM Author Posted Tuesday at 08:08 AM (edited) Hey Cliffcoggin, there are no instructions in the test kit on what my results should be, hence I have come on here to ask for someone with experience to give me an opinion on my results. ertdes Posted yesterday at 04:48 PM Posted yesterday at 04:48 PM Hi Roshan, Did you manage to get an answer to this? My understanding of diesel leak-off tests is that they are not about the actual volume of diesel in the bottles but how quickly it fills up, so it wouldn't be possible to comment with a picture without a timeframe (mind you, I don't know the answer). The symptoms you describe sound like bad injectors, though. I assume you are getting a warning light? Do you have a diagnostic tool, ideally VCDS? Live data can tell you what the injector deviation is of all 4 and likely give you the bad injector (a rule of thumb is if the deviation is above 1, then the injector is going bad).
cliffcoggin Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago The video link posted above suggests that leak off should be both negligble and more ot less equal on all cylinders.
