Mr G Posted Monday at 09:27 AM Posted Monday at 09:27 AM Hi all, Our A3 has got pitted/corroded looking tail pipes, what's the best way to spruce these up and give them back the chrome look and add some life back into them? Thanks.
cliffcoggin Posted Monday at 10:48 AM Posted Monday at 10:48 AM If chrome polish will not deal with the corrosion, you can buy new chrome trims. 1
Steve Q Posted Monday at 11:44 AM Posted Monday at 11:44 AM You could try good old brasso on them to see if it helps. 1
RShole Posted Monday at 12:21 PM Posted Monday at 12:21 PM They look pretty done in to me, time for some nice shiny new ones! These will clean up a bit but they will never be what they were, and probably not that shiny given the amount of corrosion/crap on them just now

RShole Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Had a quick search and found these: https://vwaudiparts.com/audi-a3-8v-mk3-sport-exhaust-tailpipe-trim-55mm-tip-genuine-accessory-8v0071904a-1088-p.asp https://www.audipartsdirect.co.uk/product/audi-exhaust-trim-double-black-chrome-8k0071761a If neither of those options suit you, I would give these guys a call: https://www.powerflowexhausts.co.uk/powerflow-westmidlands Hope this helps Chris 1
spartacus 68 Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago If the chrome has deteriorated they might not be worth saving, but you need to wash them first with mild detergent to see what you're dealing with. I see tar spots flung up from the rear wheels, so you can dissolve with a damp microfibre cloth and a dab of petrol. Wear nitrile gloves. in terms of bringing back the polish look, then Autosol paste applied with damp microfibre then buffed off gives good results. 1
