whoosh Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 just a quickie (again). fuse for a3 halogen lights cant see them listed in the handbook any ideas heres hoping
Glen Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Do you want to know what the fuse you need is. As for why it's not listed in the handbook I can't think of any obvious reason why it wouldn't be there. Glen.
whoosh Posted February 11, 2013 Author Posted February 11, 2013 hi glen, thanks for replying. it was the bulb that needed replacing, which wasnt the easiest of tasks. but i idid want to check the fuse before i changed the bulb, and as regard the handbook it only lists afs headights ( advanced front lighting system) right and left fuse 5 and 6. when i checked the fuse 5 and 6 had nothing exept where 6 should have been it had a conector that disappeared behind the dash. any help for the future might be good
Glen Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 I've tried to Google the solution (and other sites) but I can't seem to find what kind of fuse it takes. I can't say I have a ton of experience with this issue but I think halogen bulbs should be with most fuses. Perhaps if you knew a Audi specialist then they could tell you definitively what fuse it takes. Might not even need to look at the car. Glen.
Tech Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Hi Whoosh/Glen, all the lights on the A3, as with all modern Audis, are not fused. They are powered directly from the Central Electics Control unit J519. This control unit can detect current draw out of defined operating values and shut power off to the light as required. It alway tests for a short or open circuit when you switch on the ignition and logs a fault in its internal fault memory if a bulb is blown (open circuit). Only the cars with Xenon headlamps have fuses for the power control modules. Hope this helps.
whoosh Posted February 17, 2013 Author Posted February 17, 2013 yes brilliant thanks for the reply whoosh
Glen Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 A good answer, will have to remember that one for next time. No fuses definitely makes buying bulbs easier :) Glen.
