MatthewH Posted Saturday at 12:31 PM Posted Saturday at 12:31 PM (edited) Recently bought an A4 from Facebook, I’m young and dumb and didn’t look properly before buying and I’m now stuck with multiple issues that have suddenly surfaced. The main one being.. the locking nuts. When I bought it the kid showed me the locking nut and all was good, now I need to change the tyres it’s the complete wrong one. I’ve searched all over eBay, Audi, Google just for a similar looking nut but it’s one of a kind 🙄. It’s like a six spline nut but the sixth spline is blocked out and it’s just one blank face. The 1st and 5th spline is also swooping unlike the other splines which are just uniform semi-circles. Can anyone please help me!! *edit* it’s an Audi A4 Avant B7 2006 Edited Saturday at 12:32 PM by MatthewH
Steve Q Posted Saturday at 01:30 PM Posted Saturday at 01:30 PM I'd recommend you speak to a local company that can remove locking wheel nuts as they look pretty knackered. 2
MatthewH Posted Saturday at 03:41 PM Author Posted Saturday at 03:41 PM I do think that is the best option but just worried it’ll shear, hopefully they can save it!
cliffcoggin Posted Saturday at 05:20 PM Posted Saturday at 05:20 PM If all else fails you could weld a nut/bar/socket on the locking nut in order to remove it. Of course that will ruin the locking nut and you would need to buy a new one. Protect the wheels from weld spatter if you do try this. 1
spartacus 68 Posted Sunday at 09:42 AM Posted Sunday at 09:42 AM Laser make conical locking wheel nut extraction sockets. Find one that fits over it, hammer on (needs to be tight) with lump hammer, and extract. Better with extension breaker bar than a power tool. If you’re not confident, just take it to a garage.
