Jamiem93 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Hey guys. I got myself an a4 cabriolet 2006 3.2 petrol - lovely little car (actually inherited of my dad for free) and it has a few niggling issues The boot and convertible roof doesn't work - the light is flashing on the dash to indicate it needs to be closed and unless you use the key, the boot doesn't open automatically on the fob. I did a little investigation and using my rosstech cable, I was able to do some output tests and the pump is working, the motor is working, all the valves seem to work so I wondering if a sensor has knocked off which isn't allowing the gates of 0s and 1s to be correct? I also unfortunately damaged the cable so it no longer works. I ordered an OBD11 to see if I can figure some things out? The passenger door doesn't unlock with the fob, you have to press the button twice to unlock the passengers side. I'm having a look at the service manual to see if there is some kind of reset I can figure out. Maybe it's an acutator that's out and needs replacing or cleaning? Also the windows are !Removed! squeaky. I've tried some wd40 but this hasn't done anything so I don't know if the door card needs to come off and I need to look at oiling the runners? I'm not the most car mechanically minded person but I'm quick to learn and happy to give things a go. Any help is greatly appreciated. I'll attach a couple of pictures of her being clean Anyone that helps me diagnose my issues will have beer money and take away money on standby as a thank you. I could take it somewhere but I kind of want to give it a go myself.
cliffcoggin Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Regarding the passenger door lock: it is common in some VAG models for that door and the boot to require a double press of the key fob. It's a security feature to prevent unwanted strangers jumping into the car.

That's very interesting so it might not be a problem at all rather just a security feature and if I got this right from my process: Car is locked Car is unlocked Passenger side doesn't automatically unlock unless pressed twice If that's the case, I'll have a read through the service manual and have a look mate and see if that's what's going on. The boot unfortunately doesn't work with a double press and from what I've found online when the convertible roof doesn't have the correct sequence, the boot is locked as a safety requirement. I think if I can figure the convertible out, it might figure the boot out on its own.
