Speedo only partially lit up

Driving me nuts this...the speedo doesn't light up fully, from 0-40mph it's dull and the rest of it is fine.

If I turn the brightness down the pattern follows, 0-40 is duller than the rest...anyone any idea??

Hi the cluster needs to be stripped out and sent for repair probably a dry solder joint.
