Borat Posted February 12 Posted February 12 My 2008 Q7 keyfob no longer started the car but buttons unlocked & locked it. I went to auto locksmith who made a fob that started the car but he couldnt get it to unlock & lock with buttons. After a day the car dashboard said low battery please drive to charge and mmi showed like 50%. I drove it and it showed 100%. Today i went to start car and was dead. Checked mmi and showed at 10% and had to get aa to jump it. Drove again and its 100% now. This only started after a new keyfob was made. Why would that be draining the car battery?? Never had issue ever before and certaintly not 90% battery loss after 2 days. Anyone had this or know why this would happen?? the key man did hook up a battery charger when doing the key but it kept beeping so i dont even know if it was connected
cliffcoggin Posted February 13 Posted February 13 The chances are that your 12 volt battery is almost dead and needs to be replaced. The locking problem was likely a symptom of the defective battery, not a cause. I recommend you get the battery tested, and if it needs to be renewed get the new one coded to the car.
Borat Posted February 13 Author Posted February 13 Only like 2&1/2 years old. Halfords coming out to check it as has 5 year guarantee. Cant gone bad that quick
cliffcoggin Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Yes it can if it has been allowed to go flat or was not coded to the car when fitted. A proper battery test should reveal the truth of the matter.
cliffcoggin Posted February 17 Posted February 17 What was the result of Halfords visit? Did they test the battery? 1
