1.9tdiAudiA4B6 Posted Sunday at 09:53 PM Posted Sunday at 09:53 PM I have a 2004 B6 1.9TDI Avant, Manual gearbox 5 speed with a rotting front subframe. Am I right in saying the front subframe I need can be from a B7 or B6? It's quite confusing, as I've heard they are all the same, but then hear it depends on the gearbox mountings? On searching there are differences in some of the brackets. Does any one have a photo of the type I need? Some frames have semi-circular brackets facing the middle, some don't. I can't look on the car at the moment as it's elsewhere..... Really appreciate any help.

Magnet Posted Sunday at 10:51 PM Posted Sunday at 10:51 PM Try I.M Axles. Please let us know how you get on.
Steve Q Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago You'll want one as close to your model year as possible and same engine.
1.9tdiAudiA4B6 Posted 17 hours ago Author Posted 17 hours ago Thanks for the info. Surprisingly the garage is going to weld it to repair, but I'm going to try and get a good subframe for future use as the repair won't last too long I imagjne.
Magnet Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Hello Helen, As I understand it, welding subframes is a no, no and unacceptable for MOT passes. I could be wrong, but if I were you I would be contacting VOSA directly and getting the official dictate, rather than the garage’s opinion, before spending any money in this direction. Let us know how you get on. Kind regards, Gareth.
1.9tdiAudiA4B6 Posted 5 minutes ago Author Posted 5 minutes ago The garage getting it through the MOT is doing the welding. Apart from a couple of balljoints, the frame was the main fail. I guess it depends on the specific location of the rust with regards to structural integrity (and the extent of the rust) as to whether they can repair it with welding. I will definitely be sourcing a replacement subframe in time for next year, or the year after that, assuming welds don't last forever and rot will no doubt set in elsewhere on it, but this buys me time to get the correct subframe thank goodness. Thanks
