X111TAV Posted Thursday at 06:56 PM Posted Thursday at 06:56 PM Evening people, I was hoping to get some opinions on the Audi extended warranty. Is it worth it or not? Today I took out my S5 from Audi, had some problems with the emergency call, that was sorted and my warranty covered that, lucky enough the fault came in February and my warranty expired at the end of February. The service man said that would have costed me £1500 if the car had no warranty. I was thinking to get a new warranty that costs roughly £900 a year, can be paid in instalments as well if you prefer to keep the cash, approx £75/month. The excess is £250 if one repair needs to be done, if multiple repairs occur that’s multiplex£250, had a look at what is covered and not, a lot of “we don’t pay for if” . That’s the reason why I’m asking here, if people have warranty and what sort of fault or problems they had and if they ever had problems with Audi honouring the warranty or not. Thanks for taking your time in reading and answering. All the best
cliffcoggin Posted Thursday at 07:14 PM Posted Thursday at 07:14 PM Scrutinise the exclusions very very carefully. Most of these policies are not worth the paper they are written on. 1

spartacus 68 Posted Friday at 07:15 AM Posted Friday at 07:15 AM Like a lot of warranties, they act as insurance policies, so basically weighted in favour of the issuer, in this case Audi. You have two options, save the money, actually setting it aside for a potential issue down the road or take out the warranty. Decision would be based on history of the car and maintenance, and overall condition now. 1
X111TAV Posted Friday at 07:52 AM Author Posted Friday at 07:52 AM Thanks for your reply, good point that is, the problem now been, £900 a year won’t pay for to much of a repair if something goes wrong with the car I suppose, if I was to save the money on the side. the car is very well looked after but I’m probably overthinking that one day the gearbox will fail or god knows what else might go wrong.
spartacus 68 Posted Friday at 11:32 PM Posted Friday at 11:32 PM Keep on top of servicing is half the battle. That said, things can go wrong. I think your SOS button is bit of an anomaly and hopefully a one off, but that said I was reading about the light bar on a 2022 Q8 delaminating, and that was a £1,500+ repair, luckily under warranty. If it gives you peace of mind, take out the warranty. Just double-check conditions. I had a non Audi 2 year warranty on my 2017 B9 Avant, and it stipulated services every 6 months which is unrealistic. I now service the car myself and had the Tiptronic gearbox serviced too, Audi would have said leave it. 1
