Bonehill Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago I found the crankcase breather hose on my 2018 A3 35 tfsi connected at one end but lying randomly loose at the other. I suspect it may not have been replaced after Audi did a spark plug change. If it had simply blown/ popped off would it lie as in the pic attached?
cliffcoggin Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago If it had blown off as a result of excess crankcase pressure there will oil be sprayed around the engine bay. Otherwise...
Bonehill Posted 13 hours ago Author Posted 13 hours ago Hi Cliff Thank you very much for getting back to me and with that logical reakoning which helps alot! My own thought and possibly supported by the clean engine bay is the hose was possibly left off when the spark plugs were changed by the dealer . There is no sign of oil but the position of the hose looks more likely it was placed and overlooked when finishing there as I don't beleive it could even burst off to the position I found it in. The only sign which caused me to investiagate , was, I had noticed a slight sucking sound when decellerating from a rapid excelleration ( which I dont do very often!) I have booked it in again next Monday but dont want to have to pay the high diag fee if its their fault - Im hoping theres no damage as car seems to be running well otherwise - discussion with service manager to follow no doubt so I'm trying to gather the points I will be trying to put across but no engineeer will wish to admit to such a basic error if its the case. Thanks again. Regards Bonehill
Bonehill Posted 11 hours ago Author Posted 11 hours ago I will indeed let you know the outcome - Should know end of play, hoping Monday or Tuesday latest if major issues are found which I hope not! Cheers.
