Just found it. Surely this is getting into the Trading Standards realm?

From this thread, the vast list of cars impacted is below, so I think it's fair to say it's not a car issue.

2015 A6
2015 A6 Avant Hardware H61 RMC_EU_P16342 - Upgraded from RMC_EU_P14321
2015 Q3   RMC_EU_P14321
2015 S1   RMC_EU_P14321
2016 A1 Hardware H61 RMC_EU_P16342 - Upgraded from RMC_EU_P1432B
2016 A6
2016 A6 Avant
2016 A6 SE
2016 Q3
2017 A1
2017 A6
2017 A6 Avant
2017 Q3   RMC_EU_P16342
2017 S1
2018 A1   RMC_EU_P16342
2018 A6
2018 A6 Avant   RMC_EU_P16342
2018 Q3

I'll share this info with Audi UK against the case I raised yesterday - Case: 0003534313

A few others have looked into the Hardware issue, and H61 appears to be a stumbling block.

Add to that the owner manuals advise DAB+ is supported, it's not great.

I'll report back with what they come back with.

So..... Audi have advertised and sold these affected motors as dab+ supported.

Therefore it is either going to be a software fix.

Or.... They have skimped and installed a chip that would never be dab+.

Legally, where do we all stand?

The reputation of Audi could suffer here. I'm already thinking I should have gone BMW...

If they have skimped and lied. What else are they capable of trying to cover up and skimp on?

Let's hope it's just a software oversight and will be sorted.  (Fingers crossed)

Unfortunately I don't hold out much hope of this getting sorted. Although the manuals say DAB+ supported there will probably be some fine print somewhere that gets them out of it.

I hope that I'm wrong

Anyone fancy getting in touch with some of the mainstream car press about this story, even the Daily Mail ?

I think the right and ethical thing to do,  understanding we are all somewhat annoyed by this, is to allow Audi UK time to consider the information and solutions,  and should a sufficient time pass without updates or a refusal to address be the case,  then next steps could include the mainstream press,  but that's just my opinion.

Ethical my backside......It seems to me Audi are already aware, but at the moment are dodging the questions. All they need to do is put out a statement saying they are aware of the issue, and will update owners once a fix, or not is found.

The other issue is, will it affect the resale value of the affected cars ?

i agree tilly, instead they are playing dumb stating they are not aware of any issues which is clearly a lie as they have been inundated with calls and emails from thousands of people experiencing the same issue, still taking money off people for diagnostic checks knowing fine well what the problem actually is. They should be truthful with their customers and not trying to get money out of them by stating they would need to run a diagnostics check which is £150+vat absolute disgrace

A technical bulletin to the main dealers would be ethical, telling them not to ask owners to come in for a diagnostic check, and wait for an update from Audi. Either the audio kit works with DAB+, or it doesn't, or will need a firmware upgrade. The poor person on the service reception can only advise the owner comes in for a check, as they are not told anything else. If it does not work with DAB+, what happens when all of the channels are eventually moved over to DAB+ ? Will your radio be useless on digital ? The UK government are looking at commencing a switch off for FM starting in 2030, 5 years away...  so you wont have a radio at all....

Audi UK have just thrown Bauer Media under the bus...

Wow! That is shocking! Bauer Media surely have no obligation (and probably no idea!) what vehicles do or do not have DAB+ compatible radios!!

The point has been made that many of us DO have dab+ radio in the Audi MMI, but just it seems to be a different type - clearly I am not technical.

I said I'd get the brush off -

Thank you for contacting Audi UK in relation to the DAB radio fault you have experienced with your Audi Q3.

I was naturally concerned to learn of the issues outlined in your email and I can understand your disappointment with this experience.

We are not currently aware of the DAB radio faults among our vehicles. In order for us to be able to investigate the causes of this issue and to further analyse your concerns; we would require that an Approved Audi Centre carries out an inspection of the vehicle. This is to ensure that all of the issues are diagnosed correctly and that the appropriate advice is offered.

Contact details for all Audi Centres can be found via the link below:

https://www.audi.co.uk/uk/web/en/locate-a-centre.html

I hope this information proves useful. If there is anything else that I can help you with then please do not hesitate to contact me on the details below.

I've replied asking for my concerns to be escalated to senior management due to the number of people affected.

My car is booked in for an MOT next month so might get a scan done then if it doesn't hurt the wallet too much.

I've just been on a web chat with Audi UK customer services.

They are being instructed by management to tell customers that the vehicle has no issues and it's all down to Bauer media switching from dab to dab+

I explained that our RMC H61 MMI units are supposed to be DAB+.

She has no idea but has raised a ticket for me for technical to have a look at.

We are being deliberately fobbed off by Audi customer services

Hello

Me too - A1, 2017, ‘that’ software version.

I know practically nothing about these things. Like others, I spent time wondering what I’d done, realising I could get BBC, but, so… huh? Then googled and found this thread. Thank you. I signed up at least to stand alongside and stay abreast of this.

It’s absurd. There must be, what, tens of thousands of us; what percentage of Audi’s customers has been impacted? Before even considering legalities, on reputational grounds surely they can’t just shrug.

Thank you to those making representations to Audi: I look forward to hearing their response. If, down the line, folk think mass lobbying is needed, I’ll join in.

So I “tweeted” @audi uk , responded saying basically it’s nothing to do with my car and it’s Bauer Media UK . They’ve since deleted their response 🤬

Hi All

I've had an online chat today as below with Global Media who operate the Heart channels which I have no reception for so its not just Bauer Media. Some of the Global Media channels operate on DAB and others on DAB+ and its the + ones that don't work on my radio

It will be good to hear what Audi respond with at some point

Hi, can you please tell me whether Heart dance is broadcast on DAB or DAB+ or perhaps both ?

I and many other car drivers are having problems with some stations which are not being received on some Audi cars and this seems to be blamed on a change over to DAB+
Perhaps you could advise
Thanks
Alastair

Hi Alastair - I am just going to double check this for you I will just be a few minutes
Holly
Heart Dance is currently on DAB radio - full details are here https://www.heart.co.uk/radio/how-to-listen-heart-dance/
Holly
can i have your full postcode to check the coverage in your area
Alastair
thanks, is this the same throughout the UK or do some areas rely on DAB+, my postcode is CB24
Holly
some areas do differ but we can check coverage wise to see what is available
Holly
I am just checking your coverage for you
Holly
I believe from what I have just found out it is on DAB+ as well in your area - some areas have now moved over to it - https://getdigitalradio.com/whats-on-dab/
Alastair
up until a week or 10 days ago its been working fine but recently something seems to have changed and thought you may be able to advise if this is the case in my area, did this change recently ?
Holly
I am going to feed this back though for you - if you are having problems with tuning the device in your car to get it Audi should be able to help
Holly
have you tried retuning the channel at all to see if this helps
Holly
We haven't been told of any recent changes
Alastair
yes I've tried re-tuning, its seems to be an issue with Audi cars of a certain age although Audi seem to suggest there is nothing wrong with cars they have tested
Holly
this is something we would recommend asking Audi again for as this becomes device specific for the car
Alastair
thanks for your help
Holly
you are more than welcome - I hope you have a nice weekend
