Smithers01 Posted April 15 Posted April 15 That’s unlikely to be the case id have thought. All people have done is updated the radio channels again via a rescan. Everyone is on the same MMI software version, as whatever their vehicles were on before. it’s more likely the broadcasting frequency has changed. I don’t know who we would get in touch with to find out. I’d wager Audi or someone else has contacted whomever to do this. Now the chipset can decode the DAB radio broadcasts. Either that or they have regressed the changes made at the end of March.
ploppy Posted April 15 Posted April 15 As happy as I am to have my channels back, I can't help but feel a little dissatisfied. Maybe it's my inquisitive nature but I'd really like to know what the issue was because if someone somewhere didn't do something to fix it, it could well happen again. 1
Paul_UK74 Posted April 16 Posted April 16 I've literally just had a reply from my ticket raised with Audi. They are unbelievable... Thank you for contacting Audi UK regarding your vehicle's DAB. I am sorry for the delay in my response. Please be advised that DAB is being phased out. This is a decision of the radio stations under Bauer Media Audio UK and not a problem with the vehicle. Bauer Media Audio UK stations such as Absolute Radio, KISS, KISSTORY, and Magic Radio switched to DAB+ on March 31, 2025, meaning their DAB signals were turned off. This has nothing to do with the vehicle and everything to do with Bauer Media Audio UK and their own decision to change how they broadcast. I can appreciate that this is not the response you had hoped for, and I am sorry for any inconvenience.

Richard E Posted April 16 Posted April 16 I've had a response from Audi as well Quote Thank you for your email in relation to the response I have provided relating to the DAB radio in your vehicle. I am sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with the response provided. Please accept my apologies for the delay in my response. On March 31 2025, Bauer Media Audio UK moved four national radio stations (Absolute Radio, KISS, KISSTORY, and Magic Radio) to DAB+, causing listeners with older DAB radios to lose access to these stations. Bauer Media Audio UK stated the move to DAB+ would "improve sound quality for its audiences" and allow for more stations to be broadcast due to DAB+'s efficiency. Listeners with older DAB radios that are not compatible with DAB+ technology will no longer be able to receive these stations. To continue listening to these stations, listeners will need to upgrade to a DAB+ radio. After the switch, only LBC and talkSPORT will remain on the Digital One multiplex. Peter Davies, Chief Operating Officer for Bauer Media Audio UK, said: "We continually review how we can improve our audience's listening experience, and this simple change allows us to deliver higher-quality audio to more of our listeners." This will affect older VWG models, we are not aware of a factory approved method to upgrade to DAB+. There is no defect with the OE equipment, the manufacturer has no control on how long state of the art technology at the time of sale will be compatible with the changing world. I would like to apologise for any disappointment that may have been caused by this information but your feedback is very important to us. We strive to provide the best possible experience for our customers, and your input helps us improve our services and offerings. I've replied pointing out that Planet Rock switched to DAB+ in October 2023 and I've had no issues with reception until March 2025. Awaiting a further response ... Oh, Planet Rock is a Bauer Media Audio UK station. It transmits on band 11A which is the frequency band we appeared to lose, my partners Fiesta (2 years OLDER than my Q3) has not had any issues throughout all of this. Nor have any of my DAB+ radios at home.
dmck12 Posted April 16 Posted April 16 Sorry for the long post but just to mKake people aware- Audi in general are just a joke my car went in for diagnostic check because of radio was told it was to do with my windows being tinted as the antenna is on the back windscreen disgusied as 2 small copper wires, worse excuse ever i explained to them my car came with the tints and have had it well over a year and was clearly nothing to do with the windows being tinted as the radio juat randomly stopped working couple weeks back same as everyone elses, then explained i came across forums were other people were experiencing same issue but they just werent wantin to accept it was to do with them and not updating the chipsets or firmware etc, other work was also in the report after my vehicles healthcheck some advisories suggesting i have them done in 6 month time things like sparkplugs changed 3 new tyres and couple of other things, i gave them the go ahead to carry the work out just now so it was done, £1375 in total i paid and collected my car for my cars tyre pressure warning light to keep coming on which my car has never done and only started doing this since havinh it back from them and no tyres were losing pressure, so i took the car back to them for this to be looked at they basically checked all tyre pressures and reset the light which i told them i had already done and light would still come back on again few hours later so its not really solving the problem for them to tell me they were confident it would stay off this time and if it didnt to get it back in and theyd look into this further so upon going to collect my car again for the 2nd time i noticed my front alloy was all chipped and curbed really badly, wasnt like that when car was took into them so obviously happend when they road tested it to check the tyre pressure warning light was off, if i hadnt noticed this they would have happily sent me on my way but unlucky for them i inspect my car inside and out and its kept immaculate as i have really bad ocd so upon pointin this out to them i then had to request to speak to a manager and yes they were able to check pictures they took of my car as its protocol that they take photos of customers cars that go into them for work to be carried out upon arriving with them and they have took liability so they now have to send my wheel to their bodyshop for it to be all repsrayed so yeah my experience with audi has been absolutely shocking wish i didnt even take my car into them in the first place as it has caused nothin but hassle and my car now has problems that it didnt have prior to them doing work to it and my radio stations are all back working now, clearly misdiagnosed the problem with the radio aswell but still charged me 150 plus vat then 1375 for other work to be carried out by them disgraceful caused me nothing but stress and hassle and im now sitting carless they have offered me a courtesy car when one becomes available.

Personally I only get Audi to do a service so the car to has a full service main dealer history- i get all the other repairs - brakes, tyres etc at a local garage that I have used for years - far more reasonable pricing. 2
ploppy Posted April 16 Posted April 16 FYI My channels are all back without me having to do the "update channel list". I hadn't deleted the unavailable channels though.
Cookeylicious Posted Thursday at 12:30 AM Posted Thursday at 12:30 AM As of Wednesday 15th April my DAB+ miraculously started working again. Almostas though someone realised they'd f#$ked up and quickly reversed their mistake. All my channels are once again broadcasting as though nothing had happened and we'd been collectively having some kind of mass hysteria lol
Dave321 Posted Thursday at 07:22 AM Author Posted Thursday at 07:22 AM That’s great and I think everyone who suffered the loss of channels has had them restored I would like to think that due to the communications and comments generated by all on the post decisions have been reversed. 1
DavidNew Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Final reply from Audi… I suspect the broadcasters tweaked the frequency as Audi are clueless. Thank you again for contacting Audi UK regarding your experience with your Audi A6 DAB radio. I have now liaised with our internal Technical Team here at Audi UK, they are unable to confirm why there has been an error with your DAB radio as your vehicle does not have access to over-the-air updates. I am sorry for any disappointment that this may cause. If I can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me on the details below. 1
