Hill Hold Assist

The Hill Hold Assist on my 2016 A6 C7 6 speed manual stopped working about 3 weeks ago. Does anyone know why and how I can reactivate it?

Hill hold uses your abs system so you will need a diagnostic check on this system. 
one quick thing to look for is does your instrument cluster still know what gear your in, if a sensor has failed and it can’t detect you in gear then it also will not function as hill hold does not work in neutral

I am seeing the gear selected on my instrument cluster display. When I place the vehicle in neutral and activate the e-brake then put it in gear to pull away, the brakes do release. I’ll take it to my mechanic and have them bring diagnostics. Thanks! 🙏🏾
