under mirror lighting

when should the small l.e.d's under the door mirror come on?

also mine are very dim,just about see them,but for some reason the drivers side was very bright for a split second,when i removed the key from ignition,but i never got to see it bright again.

 

i wonder if they should be bright?

Mine illuminate when the car is unlocked or the doors are open. I'll try and take a photo to show you how bright they are
