Brianb Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 1.6 TDi, I have just purchased an A3 1.6 TDi Sportback, 1 year old 10k miles. I have found the fuel consumption to be much higher than expected ~ 50 mpg driving like a granny. What kind of consumption should I really expect? Can anything be done? 1
Gibbo Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Hi,I've the same problem. Going to take mine, eventually to Audi dealer. Suspect it could be filters or duff injectors. If I find out, will post on here!!
Brianb Posted January 29, 2014 Author Posted January 29, 2014 Hi, Yes, I took mine to the dealers for a check-over but they found nothing wrong. Since then I have found it reasonably economical ~ just nowhere near the figures they claim. This seems usual for all manufacturers, but Audi/VW seem worse than most.
Gibbo Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Thanks for the reply, been getting about 54mpg out of mine, which is rubbish going by what the gov quotes. However, fitted a K&N filter today, but I've heard good and bad reports. Off down to Lincolnshire at the weekend, will keep you posted on mpg when I get back, both off the on board info and my calculator. Regards
Gibbo Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Durham to Louth,Lincs. 147 miles. Most of it motorway, never exceeding speed limits. Best I achieved was 51 mpg! According to Audi, diesels don't like cold weather ?? And as the turbo cuts in about 1800 revs, suggested I do my motorway driving at 60mph!! Can you believe that? Nothing wrong with the car in their eyes, pleasure to drive but very false and misleading gov figures for the mpg!! 1
brucie Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Could be worse mate, my motor gets around 25mpg lol!!
