A3 AC Only works on full power (Level 4)

Hi there,

I've just bought a new Audi A3 and love it very much. It's way way better then my old punto and polo.

It's great to see there is such an amazing Audi community on this site that I can proudly be part of.

I've got a question which I was wondering you guys could help me with.

My AC only turns on when it's on full power (Level 4). However it does work properly on level 4 and the air is nice and cold. It doesn't blow out any air on levels 1,2 and 3 on normal roads.

On the motorway, the other levels suddenly and magically decide to blow out cold air appropriately.

Where could the issue be?

The heater fan control unit is the most likely culprit, its a small unit with a heat sink fitted to it, bolted to the fan motor.
