Bogdan Pascaru Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Hello everybody !!!!I havea problem with my wife's car: audi a4 (b6) 2003 1.9 tdi 130 hp, RHDLastweek after a very heavy rain in London, my wife told me some water leakedinside the car around the acceleration pedal area.Whenshe put the ignition on next day she heard a strange noise like an electricalshort and the wipers started working fast without any command :D ....shecouldn't stop them...then they stopped on their own and then wouldn't start oncommand. Now they seem not to be working at all, they start randomly workingwithout comand and then stop.I amtrying to identify the issueI readalmost all forums about this problem, and am sure that: 1.thelinkage is not seized, it's moving free and working very fast.2. theswitch is probably functional because the windscreen washer and the bordcomputer are working3. Iread about some wiper relay no 377....but on my model i don't have this relay.i looked all over the car to find it ...4. thewiper motor i think is ok because i checked another 2 and none is working...soi measured the connector that supplies the wiper motor and I have a live12v in pin nr 2 and that's it and some one told i must have life in 3 pins .So mylocal garages told me: Ecu is dead because of water lick but i check the ecucompartment and everything is dry and clean there,Ccu is dead and need recodedfor audi...and audi specialist told can be some relays located in back ofsteering wheel....Afterdiagnosis with a bosch software was found it 15 errors ...but the mostimportant was : can't communicate with Conventional Control Unit...wiper motorstage 1... control unit...wiper motor stage 2 ...Someerrors wasn't true...but was erased. Anyonehave some ideas about how to fix this problem without spending thousands ?
Tech Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 remove the underdash panel on the drivers side. To do this you will need to remove the fusebox cover on the end of the dash and then remove the three 8mm bolts, one behind the fuse cover and one at the bottom on either side. The panel is clipped in at the top and will pull away with gentle force. Behind this panel you will see a few relays to the right of the steering column and above/behind them is an ECU (black plastic box with a few large connectors on it). Disconnect the battery and remove the connectors from the ECU, check carefully for signs for water ingress. Tech
