Hi all. I have recently purchased my 1st audi. After driving a fiesta for so long it feels amazing. Year is 2004 A4 75000 convertible full leather etc full s/h looking at the car it's been well looked after. Couple of weeks ago the ESP light would stay on then go off and back on. The last few days it has stayed on and no matter what I try it won't go out. I have a lot of mechanical exp various garages etc but never got involved in these newer cars it was more to do with escorts, minis during the 80s 90s. However I ain't shy to learn. I have plugged in vag.com and got this reason code steering angle sensor g85 terminal 30. Car drives fine just an annoying light I also like to have everything working as it should. Your knowledge and help would be most appreciated

Hi and welcome to the club! My guess (and it is a bit of a guess!) would be something like an ABS sensor on one of the wheels as these can cause the ESP to play up.

Hi, I too am a new owner with the same problem! Local Indy says steering wheel angle sensor, VERY expensive to fix, going in next Tuesday, off to buy a mask and rob a Bank to pay for it!

Well I haven't yet! One of my local Indys put their fault code reader on it and again its showing the same fault. First thing he wants to check is the tracking...........another £50 or there abouts and I can not believe it could be the cause so declined their services. Went down the second hand route, got a guy in Luton, not exactly local, he will fit a S/H unit and sync it for £250, says if it does not work, no charge. Still unsure what to do, MOT is not for another 8 months so no rush!

Finally got it sorted! After having a second hand steering angle sensor fitted and programmed, lights still on, bit the bullet and ok'd a new one, fitted and all seems well at last. MOT tomorrow so fingers crossed. £350 all in, cheapest I could find.
