DodgyDJ Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Hi there... I'm new to the forum, so not sure if I'm raising this in the right place or not... But I'm looking for some help! My 2.0 Tdi A4 Avant is doing odd things. When I accelerate in 1st and 2nd, no issue... but when in 3rd and above, if I put my foot down to pull away, the revs race up to the red line, but not in sync with the car. It's like the clutch is slipping, but I don't think it is... I have to take my foot off the accelerator, let the revs drop and then pull off slower and the car goes with it! Any suggestions gratefully received... Thanks
Audi Owners Club Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Hi and welcome :) It does sounds a lot like clutch slip. How many miles has the car done? Normally, with clutch slip, the revs will go up but not your speed.
DodgyDJ Posted January 22, 2014 Author Posted January 22, 2014 Hi, Thanks for your reply.... the car has done 97k, which was about the mileage that the clutch went on my last a4.... However, the strange thing is, that today, I can't make it do it. If it was the clutch, I would expect it to just get gradually worse, not happen one day and not the next. I was wondering if it might be a sensor, but I'm not getting any warnings on the dash. The trouble is, if I take it to Audi, it may not do it, and then they think I'm just bonkers!
Audi Owners Club Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Clutch slip would normally only happen in higher gears like you said too. Try taking it on a motoroway/dual carriage way and then putting your foot down from low revs in top gear
