MMI Sat Nav updates

[Audi Q5 TDI quattro]

Hi All

I have just got myself a Q5. My question now is how to update the maps. It appears that there are many update provider where as Audi itself is rather cagey about it. Any suggestions?

Hi there, I have just bought my first Q5 today and asked the Audi dealers the same question, as my existing car uses a Garmin. The dealers said that the only updates are done approx. every 6 mths at their premises, during a service schedule. I thought this was a bit strange, more like a closed shop scenario. I must admit it would be great to find an alternative method.

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't the maps come from Audi on an SD card and are coded to your VIN number or something?

James, that is news to me, but having said that I notice that if I can get to grips with it, there is the 'MyAudi' link that somehow deals with this possibly that may be the way around things, I am still learning the intraces of their on-board computer system.

Have you any experience of this link to MyAudi..
