Matthomas24 Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 Hi all, new to the Audi world (2005 3.0 tdi quattro), drives great and everything seems to be in order but have a high pitch noise which changes in line with engine speed. Any ideas what this could be? It goes like a train, starts every time but always has this noise which I think is coming from the rear of the engine bay but can't be 100%. As the turbo is at the back could this be signs its on the way out? Cheers Mat
n31lc Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 does the noise happen when you start from low revs and accelerate? if not and it is only when you shift down and engine brake and it is a sort of whirring high pitched noise it could possibly be the dual mass flywheel or some associated bearings as this is what I had on my quattro. It was a very hard noise to define.
