Bev2013 Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Hello folks, Can anyone tell me if, when a timing/cam belt is changed, it can alter the sound of the engine? I have recently upgraded to a 2 litre 170hp and before picking up the timing/cam belt was changed. The engine sounds different to on the test drive. When in low gears and accelerating there is a reverberation noise. Could this be linked to the timing/cam belt change? Thanks and regards, Bev
James Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Hi Bev, Usually the only reason the sound of an engine can change after a cambelt change is if the timing is ever so slightly off. Not enough to cause a failure, but enough to make a slight change in noise. That would be my guess anyway....
