Autovogue tdi Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Hi all I've just joined the forum as I've recently purchased a 2002 Audi A4 1.9 tdi pd130, all was well for the first couple of weeks but now I'm having some issues. I recently had a wobble at idle so took it to a garage who advised me it had a misfire and recommended me the common injector loom harness replacement which had now been done with genuine parts but no better. They then advised me to remove the injectors to have them tested which I've done and they came back fine but now after refitting them back in it seems as the car just has no get up and go. I've removed them again and checked everything and it's all as it should be, I've also checked all the vacumn lines and replaced them for new ones in case there was any damage or one had come lose but nothing. Does anyone have any ideas on what it could be so I can actually get back to the original problem? Thank you in advance
James Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Have you tried scanning for error codes? That would be a good place to start and could point you in the right direction?
Steve Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 a shot in the dark maybe that their is an air leak between the maf sensor and the engine. So maybe with the air leak then too much air getting in to the engine to what the MAF sensor is letting on. Total shot in the dark but worth checking the intake for leaks, splits or gaps. The only thing i can imagine that would not give an error code.
Autovogue tdi Posted July 10, 2015 Author Posted July 10, 2015 Every pipe has been checked and checked agin if not replaced, I'm hoping it's a simple fix as its dragging out for so long now and I'm getting a little fed up of replacing parts that makes no difference.
James Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 I see you have already replaced the injector wiring loom but have you already replaced the injectors themselves as this is a common problem?
Autovogue tdi Posted July 13, 2015 Author Posted July 13, 2015 I see you have already replaced the injector wiring loom but have you already replaced the injectors themselves as this is a common problem? No I haven't actually replaced the injectors as they were working fine before they were removed, I mentioned to the garage if it was possible if one got dropped or damaged in any way to make it drive like it is and they have guaranteed me 100% that the injectors would not cause the current problem
James Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 No I haven't actually replaced the injectors as they were working fine before they were removed, I mentioned to the garage if it was possible if one got dropped or damaged in any way to make it drive like it is and they have guaranteed me 100% that the injectors would not cause the current problem Ah ok, that was the only other thing I could really think of off the top of my head as I've heard about injectors failing many times and Audi selling them very regularly!
Autovogue tdi Posted July 16, 2015 Author Posted July 16, 2015 Well just had diagnostics back and there saying it's the vacuum pump, fingers crossed it fixes it as there not cheap to replace and I could do with out wasting anymore money.
James Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 Well just had diagnostics back and there saying it's the vacuum pump, fingers crossed it fixes it as there not cheap to replace and I could do with out wasting anymore money. I know what you mean! Keeping my fingers crossed for you. Let us know how you get on!
James Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 How much is that setting you back this time by the way?
Autovogue tdi Posted July 28, 2015 Author Posted July 28, 2015 Well pump replaced and still no different, now has to go back to the chap that I paid to diagnose it. Starting to get a little annoyed with it now as I just want a car I can get in and drive.
James Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Well pump replaced and still no different, now has to go back to the chap that I paid to diagnose it. Starting to get a little annoyed with it now as I just want a car I can get in and drive. I feel your pain... there's nothing worse that having a fault you want to fix but you can't find, and then having to throw money at different parts that aren't needed Let us know how you get on when it goes back.
Autovogue tdi Posted July 30, 2015 Author Posted July 30, 2015 Well they have it back now and are totally taking it apart so fingers crossed it will get fixed and I can't wait to find out what actual part is causing the problem.
James Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Any luck with this yet Chris? I bet it's some silly small part that you would never even think of!
Autovogue tdi Posted August 7, 2015 Author Posted August 7, 2015 Right after the garage having a play and strip down they have installed a set of the 170bhp injectors and since it's back together we now have boost but! yes there's a but the idle is up and down a bit. Has anyone ever put the 170bhp injectors in a 130bhp? they seem to think that a remap will sort out the idle as the standard map isn't good enough for the larger injectors
Autovogue tdi Posted August 8, 2015 Author Posted August 8, 2015 Forget the 170 injectors the bloke in the garage told me wrong there the 150 injectors which are exactly the same as the 130 injectors. Now have a chap booked in for Monday to do a map on it to hopefully sort the minor issue fingers crossed.
