AMI cable won't recognise iPhone 5

I recently bought a 2011 A4 Technik 2.0 L, and I have been trying to play the music on my iPhone 5 through the MMI system via an AMI cable I paid Audi £42 for, but to no avail.

The first Audi salesman explained that only one of three different colour coded wires available will work with my phone. There was green, red and white. White was the colour that worked with his iPhone 5 when he connected it to the car. Three different Audi staff hooked their iPhones up to my car with the same cable and they all worked too. They all charged, played music, and even had their name on the console display.

At first, we thought it may be a software issue on the phone but that is not a problem, I have the latest update downloaded.

The obvious signs point to a fault with the phone, however the phone still charges every night without any issues via my charger at home. Audi are stumped, as are the iPhone repair companies I have visited. I even paid £50 for a new battery and charging port, but it made no difference.

I now have absolutely no idea how to solve this situation, as I have dealt with Audi and the iPhone repair companies, and I don't know what other avenues to explore.

Has anyone else experienced similar problems like this? Is there a specialist department within Audi I could get in touch with for some advice, as opposed to the Parts Department in a dealership?

Any advice or feedback is greatly appreciated.

Cheers

That's a strange one! Were the iPhones belonging to the members of staff also identical iPhone 5 models?

If that's the case then surely it must point to a phone issue? Have you tried backing everything up and doing a factory restore on your phone? That would probably be my next move if not?
