JAKHOLD3N Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Hi everyone I'm new to this club and i have a problem with my A3 2.0TDI, i recently spilt some coffee on my climate controls not a lot just went on the screen in the middle and wiped it off all sorted. But i recently realised that the climate control doesn't work correctly. It seems to be on 16c and its blowing like its set to HI, but then you switch it to LO and it blows cold like you'd expect on LO, sometimes if i move the dials around enough it starts to work again which is strange? All the buttons work such as: foot blower, face blower, windscreen, rear screen, fan speed on off, tempreature knobs turn the degrees up and down like they should all the display works perfectly. So i took it to my local Audi dealer (HULL) and they had the car 4 hours and came back with that it needs a whole new "climate control unit" and the cost is... (sit down) £730!! Obviously this isn't an option as of yet but i know a few people in the trade who have previous backgrounds of being an Audi specialist and they seem to think it could be the Heater Flap thats is jamming. I'm just looking for some advice on this because its till under warranty and they are refusing to honour it as warranty. Ive also managed to find a climate control unit on eBay for £70 which i don't mind paying for i can get it fitted for cheaper than £730 more near the £200 mark with coding it at Audi. Any advice would be greatly appreciated guys thank you for reading.
James Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Does the unit definitely need coding? I imagine the fitting part would be reasonably straight forward.

I have an Audi specialist located at the top of my street and I asked them to see how much it would cost to fit and they said fitting is easy it's "coding" that's the expensive part because it needs to go to Audi I don't know how true it is however.
James Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 May be worth asking around as I would have thought a decent specialist should have access to the diagnostic software required but I could be wrong.
