TommyZoom Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Hi, I'm an Audi lover but know little about buying a car. I have seen a 2006 5d with 110k on the clock. It has just had a new cylinder head done, does this effect the value or future reliability of the car. Any my advice on what I should look for would be great.
James Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Avoid the S tronic auto box if possible. Cylinder head should be fine if done properly. Check when the cam belt was done too.
TommyZoom Posted February 19, 2016 Author Posted February 19, 2016 Thanks James. Its a 6 speed manual and timing belt done at 81k. It now has 111k. Part service history but looks pretty clean and tidy to me. Done hpi on it and it's all clear. It's a private sale so no warranty which is my main concern really
TommyZoom Posted February 20, 2016 Author Posted February 20, 2016 Oh no.... I have been reading forums and scared myself now....... the 2.0 TDI Sport 2006 has the 2 litre BKD engine and people have been writing to steer clear of this engine. Is this fair or is it like trip advisor when people only write about their negative experiences and not their good ones. The car has done 111K and has had the timing belt changes. Is there anything else i should look for because if the BKD engine? or should i be looking for a 1.9 instead? Thank you
James Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 Yes, you're right it is a little bit like that. BKD engines do sometimes suffer with turbo and flywheel issues I believe, but as you said you're more likely to see problems on forums and there are some cars out there that don't have issues.
