Nick Cross Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 I have a 2012 Audi A3 which I bought from new, there is 57500 miles on the clock and I have just been told I need a new gearbox and clutch. Now obviously I'm not happy about it, the warranty ran out in June, I have contacted the Audi dealership I purchased it from and they have offered to contribute 50% of the bill as a good will gesture. What I would like to know is, am I getting a good deal here or should I pursue things further? Any help would be much appreciated.
James Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Well it's out of warranty so technically they don't have to do anything. Clutch would not have been covered by warranty anyway, only gear box. I would probably take it but how much is it going to cost you?
Nick Cross Posted February 19, 2016 Author Posted February 19, 2016 They are saying the work is going to cost just over 4K in total but they only want me to pay £1800. I was told it was a manufacturer fault rather then wear and tear so didn't know whether or not I had a case for them footing the full bill. I'm inexperienced in this area and just wanted to know what other people's actions would be in the same sort of scenario
James Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 If it's out of warranty they don't have to. If you have a full and comprehensive Audi service history at the correct intervals there is a chance they may if you push but certainly not guaranteed though...
