A6 (58 plate) avant Oil pressure loss

Hello, first post but I really need your help and advice please, I have an A6 2.0 TDi on a 58 plate with full service history , its done approx 127k miles. Recently I was driving locally when the oil pressure 'turn off' came up and I had to have the car taken to a local garage whom I usually use. He says the job is too big for him and I have to take it to Audi (lindale) .

On speaking to them they say (without even examining it) its likely to be a 4 to 5 thousand pound repair!

What on earth has happened ? The car is around 8 years old with FSH, its probably worth 5-6k so Im stuck at the moment with a perfectly (or was) serviceable vehicle thats likely to be scrapped. Surely Audi UK must know about this? the engine should be good for another 200k miles. Im absolutely gutted. Can anyone offer me help or advice please as Im at a total loss as to what to do. I have always bought Audi/VW for the past 25 years but my confidence in the brand has been shattered.

Thanks guys

Brian

Hi Brian,

Sorry to hear about this. Do you have any more details as to what it could be apart the warning light? Could be something as simple as a sensor?

Although it doesn't sound good I wouldn't write it off yet.

change oil pressure sensor first to eliminate that.  if that dont work could be oil pump and or loose bottom pully bolt. or blocked oil pump strainer.

first off oil and filter change try this if dont work change oil pressure sensor.

Thank you so much for the advice, I am being told by Audi (Lindale) that I will need a new engine and turbo, the work apparently will cost around 8K ! I am hoping Audi UK will have some sympathy with my situation as it is a design fault in the engine.

As the car is only worth around 5 to 6 K I am in a bit of a pickle !

Thanks

Brian
