New pads have wear sensor - old ones didn't!

Hi, I am currently replacing the pads on my 2011 a3 2.0 TFSI. I have removed the old pads which don't have a wear sensor on them. The be ones fit perfectly but have the wear sensor attached. I can't find where this plugs into so I assume my car does not have that function. Is it just a case of cutting it off?

EDIT: I realised after posting this thread that only one side has the wear indicator on! Doh!
